The core of tourist Córdoba is a valley. Mountains, water, infrastructure and good quality services identify it. In short...Punilla.
Mountains to the east (the Sierras Chicas with Cerro Uritorco -1,979 metres- and Pan de Azúcar -1,250 metres-), mountains to the
west (the Sierras Grandes, with Macizo de los Gigantes -2,374 metres- and the high pampas of San Luis and Olaen); that is the geographic frame
to the Valle de Punilla.
Apart from the already mentioned Cerros, there are other natural attractions of great interest in the area: "Los Terrones" red
sandstone formations weirdly eroded, near Capilla del Monte; the "Quebrada y Mirador de Cuchi Corral", a privileged spot
for hangliding, close to La Cumbre; the "Quebrada de Vaquerías", natural reserve of highland forest in Valle Hermoso; the
"Cascada de Los Chorrillos", of awesome beauty near Tanti.

Water, the other great attraction of this valley, is present in its complete length: the river Cosquín to the north and the
river San Antonio to the south, with their sandy banks, come together into the Embalse San Roque (reservoir), around which
Villa Carlos Paz is located. The river Suquía which starts at the Dique San Roque (dam), goes through
the Sierras Chicas along
a beautiful and awesome ravine, flows across the city of Córdoba and gets to
the Laguna Mar Chiquita (salt lagoon).
Other reservoirs, such as El Cajón (in Capilla del Monte) and La Falda (in that village) complete the offer. All of them are
of great attraction as centres of water recreational activities (sailing, windsurf, canoeing, swimming, beach), and so enlarging
the range of possibilities offered by the mountains ( horse riding, trekking, climbing).

Cosquín Festival

Some cultural attractions such as the Festival Nacional de Folklore in Cosquín, a group of chapels from the XVIII
century (of San José in Mallín, of San Antonio in Valle Hermoso, of Olaen, of San Roque in La Cumbre, of Dolores), and
the mansion "El Paraíso" in Cruz Chica (residence-museum of writer Manucho Mujica Láinez), together with the greatest
offer in services and accommodation, gastronomic and recreational infrastructure complete the identity of this cordobese valley. The evening
is also enchanting: a variety of restaurants, theatres, confiterías, discos and a casino make Punilla (specially Carlos Paz) into the show
and entertainment centre of tourist Córdoba.
Other reservoirs, such as El Cajón (in Capilla del Monte) and La Falda (in that village) complete the offer. All of them
are of great attraction as centres of water recreational activities (sailing, windsurf, canoeing, swimming, beach), and so
enlarging the range of possibilities offered by the mountains ( horse riding, trekking, climbing).
