Although the Imperial Park Hotel is officially located at the cross section of Lima and Hipolito Yrigoyen, users should keep in mind that Lima parallels Ave. 9 de Julio (which many local like to boast as the widest street in the world) and is only separated from it by a strip of sidewalk. Also, Ave. de Mayo, another major street, is just a block away, which places the hotel at a convenient (mostly for business people), if noisy and hectic, location.
The hotel is relatively small and decorated tastefully. Front desk staff can be helpful. Rooms overlook the rear (an unpleasing view of the roofs of lower buildings), the side over Hipolito (views of offices), or Ave. 9 de Julio. I believe that the rooms are climate-controlled, so they are usually quite comfortable. The bathrooms have heated floors and lighting is motion-sensitive. Beds are comfy and the breakfast, which is included in the rate, is buffet-style and quite good. The hotel offers free wireless in the lobby, but it's iffy.
Two metro stops are located 1-2 blocks away, although taxis are reliable and inexpensive. Nearby eateries are rather uninteresting, although La Continental on Ave. de Mayo is good for empanadas. Otherwise, the most interesting sites, good shopping, and delicious restaurants are in other neighborhoods.
Our accommodations were arranged by a travel agent, so I'm unsure about hotel rates. I did some searching, however, and found rates between USD$ for doubles. Depending on your needs, the hotel is a good value. Clean, tasteful, and safe.
Me and my husband spent 4 nights in Imperial Park Hotel. The hotel is well located and we could walk to many tourist attractions nearby. But taxis in Buenos Aires are very cheap and we would not hesitate to take one when we needed to go a little farther away. The lobby was very nice. We stayed in a room on the 10th floor facing Hipolito Yrigoyen street. Not the best view but we could see some of 9 de Julio Avenue and with soundproof windows, we heard no noise whatsoever. The room was good sized (not very large but also not too small), the air conditioning was nice, TV had lots of channels and bed was good too. The bathroom was a little small but very clean, with good water pressure. The only thing I didn't like was the towels. They were very small and worn-out. Breakfast was very nice. Staff was not so kind but arranged us city tour, tango show and transportation back to the airport. They helped when we needed. Overall, a good place to stay.
