Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights - while the hotel is nothing special the rooms being very tired - the location is fantastic and best of all the employees are extremely helpful - they organized everything we wanted to do - Boca Games trip to Uruguay etc...would go back for that reason - also very well priced....if you want good rate, freindly employess and a great location place to go.
Stayed here during part of my trip, August 31, for three nights. Although I had a high floor room which had a nice view of the tree tops of the park below, this location is very noisy. Libertad is narrow, traffic clogged street connecting to Santa Fe so the traffic below is noisy and the smell of diesel is a bit overwhelming walking on the narrow sidewalks below. The location, as others have mentioned is good. A few blocks from Sante Fe, and Recoleta cemetary a bit further, and a 6 to 8 blocks walk to Florida street.
The rooms decor was aged and the carpets were stained. The bed was very comfortable, medium firm and the towels were like new.
The doormen and the reception were very accommidating, friendly and made the stay enjoyable experience.
The restaurant staff was not very friendly and the service was lacking. The breakfast buffet was adequate, but nothing special. No one was greeted/acknowleged each morning and no one inquired if they were indeed a guest at the hotel, which I found very amusing.
This hotel is good if you are on a budget. Paid $65 plus tax, but for $20 bucks more, there are better hotels
Great location...5 minutes from Recoleta and 5 minutes from Florida street shopping.
Friendly staff.
Internet access.
Initially has a small room on 13th floor w/ great city view but because the ac generator was on the roof and it was so loud we changed rooms and they gave us a nice large 2 room suite for no additional charge.
Breakfast was decent but not great.
Great rates on the internet. Also stayed down the street at Hotel de las Americas and we found the two placed to be fairly comparable.
After reviewing the 'miracle economics' pricing of the large 'Chain' hotels I decided to look for a smaller 'local' property for my 1st visit to Buenos Aires. I booked 4 nights at the Dazzler Hotel. It seemed to have a central location and the price was right, $56us including breakfast buffet.
Arrived at 1pm (check-in time is 3pm) and was in my room by 1:15pm.
A little confusion about my reservation. The hotel had me listed by my given name rather than my surname.
Front desk staff was very young and good looking but weren't exceptionally friendly and outgoing.
The hotel is on Plaza Libratad just off 9 Julio. Half block to Cervantes
Theatre and a few blocks from Teatro Colon. Nice feature was that the rooms face the Plaza so you are not looking into another building like most other hotels in the city (exception being the Marriott, Sheration Retivo, and a few others). So a nice green, leafy view of the plaza (my room) or a more open view over the plaza on higher floors. Only 7 rooms per floor, two small evelators, nice clean and decorated hallways.
My room was small but adequate. Queen bed, TV, Mini bar, etc. AC was good. Lights and AC controls at beadside. Bathroom towels were sometimes a little worn and no washcloths were provided. Soap and shampoo and conditioner were replinished as needed. Room not as nice as pictures in brochure or on the internet.
Bed was comfortable and adequate.
Public area were nice with the breakfast buffet on the 1st floor (above the lobby) with wall-to-wall windows overlooking the plaza. Buffet was juices, coffee, teas, cereals, yoguarts, fresh fruits, breads, rolls, cheese, cold meats, scrambled eggs, hot thin sliced ham and sometimes sausages.
The public areas are on a series of levels over three floors. Small bar with friendly staff on mid level between restaurant (breakfast buffet) and lobby.
Half level down from lobby is free high speed internet access computer for guest use (no charge). Often no wait and a great way to get those emails taken care of, check on flights, etc.
As indicated, the room did not look like the brochure. It has more simple utilitarian furnishings and was not as nice looking as the common areas.
NOTE: 1)this hotel is in central BA. Lots of traffic and street noise. Noise can be a problem in the rooms since the floor to ceiling windows are not sound proofed. I used my ear plugs most nights.
2)Also, front desk, cashier does not have much cash or are unwilling to cash larger bills. Could not get smaller bills for 100 Peso bill nor could I get 5-1 Peso coins for a 5 Peso bill.
3) Check-out time is stated as 10am. They allowed me to stay till noon. However, charges for late check-out after noon run anywhere from 50% (3:00p) to 100% (6:00p) of their RACK RATE not your rate (internet, etc.)
Area is safe for walking. With theatres and opera house a few blocks away, area is peopled well past midnight.
If you like to explore the city by walking this hotel is ideally located. One can explore several city areas by foot. Subway(Subte) is a few blocks away and numerous bus lines are nearby.
Overall, average two and half to three star hotel. If on a budget, I'd stay here again.
